The United States Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, announced that he had a conversation with the Minister of Economy, Luis "Toto" Caputo, and reaffirmed the Donald Trump administration's support for President Javier Milei's economic plan in Argentina.

In a message posted on X, Bessent revealed that he had a "very positive call" with Caputo, and anticipated that in the coming days a team of Argentine officials will travel to Washington to move forward in defining mechanisms for financial support.

"After intense work since the meeting between United States President Donald Trump and President Javier Milei in New York, in the coming days I expect Minister Caputo's team to come to DC to make significant progress in our in-person discussions on options to provide financial support," Bessent stated in his post.

The U.S. official also highlighted that during his conversations with the G7 Finance Ministers, he emphasized the importance of the success of the Argentine economic program: "I emphasized the importance of the success of President Milei's economic policies for the people of Argentina, for the region, and for the G7."

He also reaffirmed once again that the Trump administration, through the United States Treasury, "is fully prepared to do whatever is necessary" and will closely monitor developments related to the ongoing stabilization plan.

Through the same social network, Minister Caputo replied: "Working hard to finalize what was announced last week by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent."

The new show of support from the U.S. Treasury represents a key boost for Milei's administration at a time when Argentina is experiencing significant volatility amid the electoral context.

In this scenario, the trip of the Argentine president to Washington to meet with Trump, scheduled for next October 14, will be decisive in transforming political gestures into concrete instruments of financial assistance.

As Bessent confirmed in his message, the U.S. government considers the libertarian leader's success strategic, not only for Argentina but also for the economic stability of the entire region.
