The Swedish studio Sharkmob officially announced that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, its multiplayer proposal set in the World of Darkness universe, will permanently shut down its servers on April 28, 2026. Released in 2022 for PC and PlayStation 5, the title offered a unique approach within the battle royale genre, where players embodied vampires who fought for the dominion of a nocturnal Prague plagued by action and supernatural powers.
The company thanked the community for its support over four years and acknowledged that the decision was made after an analysis of economic sustainability. "The current player population has reached a level where keeping the servers running is no longer viable," Sharkmob explained in a statement.
The reasons behind the closure
Bloodhunt was launched in early access in September 2021, achieving a good initial reception. However, over time, the user base began to decrease steadily. In May 2023, the studio had already announced that it would stop developing new content, which anticipated the current outcome.

The company highlighted the emotional impact of the closure, describing the decision as "difficult but necessary." From the announcement, purchases of tokens —the premium currency of the game— were disabled, although users will be able to spend those they already possess until the final date of the service.
What will happen to accounts and progress
After April 28, 2026, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt will no longer be available on any platform, and the data of the accounts, progress, and acquired objects will be permanently deleted. Any pending balance will be lost, as there will be no options for refunds or migration.
While Sharkmob assured that the legal rights of the players will remain in force, the disconnection of the servers implies the total end of the multiplayer and social experiences that defined the title's proposal.

One more case of the accelerated cycle of games as a service
The closure of Bloodhunt adds to a growing list of online multiplayer games that fail to sustain an active community in the long term. The "games as a service" model faces increasing difficulties in maintaining its profitability in the face of saturated competition and increasingly shorter cycles of interest.
In this context, the closure of the title not only marks the end of an experience within the World of Darkness universe, but also raises a debate about digital preservation and the ephemerality of online experiences.
Meanwhile, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 continues its development, promising a more traditional narrative experience that could revitalize interest in the saga.
