Argentine football was in mourning this Sunday with the news of the passing of Carlos Silva, a former Uruguayan goalkeeper who was 60 years old. The former footballer lost his life in a car accident in Argentina while he was heading to the Atlantic Coast to finalize the purchase of a house. According to police sources, Silva suffered a medical episode that led to the collision of his vehicle in the town of Brandsen.
Born in Montevideo on December 1, 1964, Silva chose Argentina to develop his professional career. He made his debut for Deportivo Morón, where he was a key player in the promotion to the now-defunct Nacional B in 1990. He later played for Quilmes (1991-1992), Argentinos Juniors, and in 1993 he had the opportunity to wear the jersey of Boca, where he was backup to Mono Navarro Montoya.

His time with Xeneize included friendlies, among them a Superclásico against River in the summer of 1995, and just one official match: the 5-0 rout of Lanús in the 1994 Torneo Apertura, in which he came on in the final stretch to replace the starting goalkeeper.
