A high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel told CNN that the security policies of President Donald Trump's administrationhave made criminal operations more difficult and costly.
This high-ranking member of the Mexican criminal organization spoke to the international network anonymously, using glasses, a mask, and a cap to conceal his identity. In the interview, conducted by journalist David Culver, the criminal responds affirmatively when asked if Trump's measures have complicated his work.
Later, when asked about the violence within this criminal business, he justifies the violence within his organization and endorses the use of reprisals. "If you do something bad to me, I do something bad to you," were the words used by the drug trafficker.

Trump's return to power has, in turn, caused the migrant smuggling business at the border to decrease and become more expensive. Officials told CNN that the price to carry out this smuggling activity typical of drug cartels has increased from about $6,500 per person to nearly $10,000.
This increase has left many migrants unable to pay the fee and trapped in debt with these criminal networks. Authorities expressed concern about this reality, as it could lead to a scenario of greater exploitation of these people by organized crime.
Trump has made the fight against Mexican cartels and the strengthening of border security pillars of his administration. Culver, in an analysis shared by law enforcement officials and analysts, noted that cartel leaders appear "increasingly desperate" in the face of this scenario of total suffocation.
In the past, more precisely in May, CNN had already interviewed another member of the Sinaloa Cartel. In that interview, the Democratic network was harshly criticized on social media for attempting to romanticize and humanize the ruthless violence these foreign criminals display daily.
