Sold out: El Superclásico will have a historic attendance record

The Millonario hosts Xeneize this Sunday at 3:30 PM for matchday 15 of the Torneo Apertura

Any Superclásico is important, not only because of the sports context but also because of the popularity and importance of the two biggest teams in the entire country. However, this new edition will mark a milestone never before seen in the history of the clásico, as it will feature the presence of 85,018 fans at the Más Monumental, surpassing last year's 84,567.

All available tickets were sold in the blink of an eye. At 10 a.m. yesterday, members without the "Your place at the Monumental" subscription were able to access the first batch of tickets from the River ID System, and in just one hour they sold out.

Later, at 3 p.m., the second group of tickets was uploaded for "Somos River" members, and they sold them out in 50 minutes. Meanwhile, the seat changes for lifetime members were made, and by the end of the day there were no tickets available.

The increase in capacity compared to last year is due to the recent infrastructure works at the Millonario's stadium. These included the joining of the middle and upper stands of the San Martín, Belgrano, Sívori, and Centenario, which provided 451 extra seats. With the capacity now at 85,018, it will be the first time River hosts Boca with the new full capacity.

How are River and Boca doing?

The Núñez team continues to show irregular levels both nationally and internationally. Despite the significant investment made in the last transfer market, Gallardo hasn't been able to find a team that convinces the fans and struggles in matches that, at least on paper, should be accessible.

However, in the last few matches, they achieved positive results, such as the 3-0 win against Gimnasia at the Bosque and the 2-2 draw against Independiente del Valle at the altitude of Quito, generating some momentum.

They are currently fourth in Zone B of the apertura with 25 points, surpassed by Rosario Central (29), Independiente (28), and San Lorenzo (26). Meanwhile, in Libertadores, they are first in Group B with 5 points, the result of 1 win (0-1 against Universitario in Lima) and 2 draws (0-0 against Barcelona at home and 2-2 against IDV away).

Meanwhile, the Xeneize, not competing in any international cup in the first part of the year, is completely focused on the local scene. Gago's team has just won 3 consecutive matches (1-0 against Barracas at home, 1-3 against Belgrano away, and 2-0 against Estudiantes de LP at home). With these results, they lead Zone A with 32 points, three more than their closest pursuer, Argentinos Juniors.

Despite the good moment, Boca has bad news, as one of the team's leaders will miss the Superclásico. It is Edison Cavani, who due to a tear will not be able to be present in the most important match so far this year.
