SpaceX, the company of Elon Musk, would be the main candidate to win a contract valued at 10 billion dollars for the construction of the so-called "Golden Dome" of Donald Trump, a system inspired by the Iron Dome used by Israel, according to a report by Reuters.
However, Musk denied that information and stated that his company hasn't sought to participate in any such bidding. "Our priority is to focus on taking humanity to Mars," he expressed.
"If the president requests our collaboration on that project, we will be willing to help, but my wish is for other companies (not SpaceX) to handle it," Musk added in a post.

Despite the entrepreneur's clarification, the Reuters report doesn't claim that SpaceX leads the bidding independently. What it details is that the company would have partnered with two other firms closely linked to Trump: Anduril, a defense sector startup in which billionaire Peter Thiel invested heavily, and Palantir, a company also co-founded by Thiel, to compete for the contract.
The Reuters report indicates that SpaceX representatives held meetings with Pentagon officials, in which they presented the details of the proposals from the consortium integrated with other companies. This group, still without a formal name, proposes deploying up to 1,000 satellites in Earth's orbit as the first phase of a system intended to detect missile threats. Only the initial design and engineering stage would have an estimated cost of 10 billion dollars, according to the agency.
