Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, creator of Stardew Valley, once again gave clear signs about his next project. In the midst of fans' anxiety, he assured that Haunted Chocolatier is still in active development.
The message arrived through a new update on his blog, where the developer sought to dispel rumors and bring reassurance after months of silence.
Eric Barone aseguró que Haunted Chocolatier sigue en desarrollo activo
"I am alive and still working", Barone's message
Barone acknowledged that announcing the game so early, in 2021, created expectations that are difficult to manage. Even so, he made it clear that he has not abandoned Haunted Chocolatier and that the project is moving forward.
"I have been very productive lately", he wrote, although he admitted that development is taking longer than expected. For him, that is not a problem if the final result justifies it.
Why Haunted Chocolatier is taking longer than expected
The developer is working alone, as he did in the early days of Stardew Valley. In addition, he uses the new game as a creative outlet when he feels overwhelmed with his most famous project.
El desarrollador trabaja en solitario, como hizo en los inicios de Stardew Valley
In that context, he explained that Haunted Chocolatier is bigger and more complex than Stardew Valley, both in scale and in systems.
There will be no recycled content between games
One of the most repeated rumors suggested that discarded ideas from Haunted Chocolatier could end up in Stardew Valley. Barone was blunt about it.
He clarified that both games are made from scratch, with different engines, and that there is no technical or creative possibility of "copying and pasting" content.

What Haunted Chocolatier is about
Haunted Chocolatier proposes managing a haunted chocolate shop in a fantasy world. Unlike Stardew Valley, it will have a stronger focus on combat and exploration.
The player will have to gather ingredients, face enemies, and produce magical chocolates, combining management, action, and narrative.
No release date, but with commitment
Barone once again repeated an idea that is already his philosophy: the game will be released when it is ready. There is no estimated date or release window. Meanwhile, he continues to alternate his time between new ideas for Stardew Valley and the development of Haunted Chocolatier, without haste and without external pressure.
Despite the lack of frequent news, the community remains alert to every move the developer makes. His track record supports the patience.
