Although the ending of Stranger Things hasn't aired yet, rumors are already circulating about how the universe created by the Duffer brothers could continue.
In a recent interview, Finn Wolfhard, one of the main actors in the series, revealed that there is a concrete idea for a spin-off that would radically change the known approach so far: without Hawkins, without the original characters, and with a narrative closer to the style of Twin Peaks.
A new international and atmospheric approach for the Stranger Things universe
The main difference of this possible spin-off would be its setting: it would no longer take place in Hawkins, but in multiple international locations. The concept revolves around the expansion of the Upside Down mythology, focusing on new secret laboratories distributed around the world, beyond the one that originated the story in the fictional Indiana town.

Wolfhard surprised the production team by accurately anticipating the central idea of the spin-off. "If there was a laboratory in Hawkins and another in Russia, how many more could exist?" the actor commented, suggesting that there are more doors open to the Upside Down. Ross Duffer, co-creator of the series, acknowledged that Wolfhard was the only person who managed to guess the concept of the new project.
An anthology narrative in the style of Twin Peaks
The new approach would adopt an anthology structure, where each episode or season would present a different story, but unified by the presence of the Upside Down. The inspiration from Twin Peaks would be reflected not only in the narrative style, but also in the atmosphere filled with mystery and symbolism, elements that defined David Lynch's series.
