A conservative American association published a study in which it states that Netflix's children's programming is full of ideological content

The conservative American organization Concerned Women for America (CWA) published a report in which it accuses Netflix of systematically promoting LGBTQ+ content in its programming aimed at children, a practice that strongly undermines parents' authority and exposes minors to topics that are inappropriate for their age.
The report, titled "LGBTQ Messaging Pervasive in Netflix Children’s Programming", analyzes series rated as suitable for minors (TV-G, TV-Y, and TV-Y7) and concludes that 41% of G-rated programs and 41% of TV-Y7 programs include LGBTQ+ characters, themes, or messages. Taken together, the study indicates that 33% of children's content available on Netflix contains this type of element.
Penny Nance, president and chief executive officer of CWA, stated that the results reveal an "anti-child and anti-family agenda" on the part of the streaming platform.
In statements included in the report, she maintained that children's programming has been "infiltrated by adult concerns related to sexuality and gender identity", which represents a radical shift from the traditional role of children's entertainment. Nance added that many parents are unaware of the magnitude of this phenomenon and do not expect to encounter these topics in cartoons or series for minors.

The report also details that, although the TV-Y category has the lowest percentage of LGBTQ+ content, 21% of programs rated for the youngest children include references of this kind.
Among the examples cited are The Magic School Bus Rides Again, which introduces characters described as "trans-coded", and Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City, with characters identified as transgender or nonbinary.
Additionally, CWA emphasizes that reboots and new seasons of classic series have incorporated LGBTQ+ characters that did not exist in previous versions, as in Power Rangers, She-Ra, The Baby-Sitters Club, and The Fairly OddParents.

According to the study, the presence of this type of content increased significantly starting in 2021. That year, 42% of children's programs that debuted on Netflix included LGBTQ+ messages. By 2023, the proportion exceeded 60% of new releases, and there were more children's series with this type of content than without it.
CWA links this increase to the growth in the number of Generation Z youth who identify as LGBTQ+, a figure that rose from around 11% in 2017 to more than 20% in 2023. The organization suggests that there could be a feedback loop in which media content not only reflects but also influences these trends from an early age.
The controversy surrounding Netflix intensified in October 2025, when a clip from the series Dead End: Paranormal Park went viral in which a child character comes out as transgender.

The clip was shared by Elon Musk, who publicly called for canceling the platform. After the episode, the company experienced a sharp drop in the stock market, with an estimated loss of 15 billion dollars in its market value.
In this context, CWA urged United States authorities to examine Netflix's children's content more closely, especially in light of the proposed merger with Warner Bros. Discovery.
The group asked the government to consider creating an independent council that would represent parents and oversee program ratings. According to the organization, Netflix has refused to engage in dialogue about these concerns, which they interpret as a sign that the company is acting with a clear ideological intent that, they assert, doesn't reflect the priorities of most families.
