The minister advanced a package of key reforms to deepen Milei's agenda and asked the governors for political support for approval.

The Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, outlined the main projects that the national government will send to Congress and made it clear that the key will be the political support of the governors to move forward with the reform agenda.

During his participation in ExpoEFI 2026, the official asked for direct support from the governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, in a gesture that evidenced the need of the ruling party to build legislative majorities.

“I trust you're going to convince your colleagues to vote on the bill, aren't you?” , Sturzenegger launched in a relaxed tone, marking the political axis of the challenge facing the

Government.

Milei's Roadmap: Less State and More Market

The reform package includes central initiatives to deepen President Javier Milei's economic program, with a focus on reducing regulations, facilitating investment and improving competitiveness

.

Among the most outstanding projects is the so-called “Hojarasca Law”, which aims to eliminate more than 70 regulations considered obsolete that today hinder economic activity.

A reform is also being prepared on the inviolability of private property, with changes in key laws such as expropriations, evictions, land law and fire regulations, seeking to provide greater legal security.

Economic deregulation and cost reduction

,

Sturzenegger also anticipated a battery of measures aimed at different sectors:

  • Capital market reforms Changes in

  • the insurance industry Amendment to the

  • cabotage law. On this last point, the

  • minister was decisive: the reform would entail a significant reduction in logistics costs. “It would be equivalent to lowering withholding by 8 points,” he said

    .

    State reform and competence

The official also advanced a future State reform law, which will take up aspects of decrees that failed to advance previously, with the objective of redefining functions and reducing inefficient

    structures.

In parallel, work is being done on an amendment to the competition law to provide more tools to the regulatory body, especially to eliminate barriers to entry affecting SMEs.

Artificial intelligence and the new economy

Another of the central axes of the exhibition was the impact of artificial intelligence on the economy.

Sturzenegger proposed an ambitious scenario for the country: “Argentina could have 50 million inhabitants and 500 million artificial intelligence agents producing for the world, but paying taxes here.”

Along these lines, he stressed the need to adapt the regulatory framework to attract technological investments and position the country in the global knowledge economy.

Political key: the role of governors

Beyond the technical content, the minister's message made it clear that the success of the agenda will depend on political support in Congress

    .

The nod to Jalil was no accident: the Government needs the governors to accompany the reforms to consolidate the process of deregulation and transformation of the State that drives the administration of Milei.
