James Gunn surprised DC fans with a preview of Man of Tomorrow. Additionally, he revealed what will happen with Lex Luthor after the events of Superman. The information comes from the second season of Peacemaker.
The sixth episode featured a scene that connects Gunn's various projects. Kal-El's villain appears in prison and is visited by Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) due to the government's interest in the dimensional portal used by Peacemaker.

Lex Luthor and his unexpected alliance
In the scene, Lex offers a scanner to locate the portal in exchange for a chance at redemption. Although Gunn doesn't reveal what that opportunity is, Rick Flag Sr. confirms that the government is now collaborating with Luthor.
This marks the beginning of his role in Man of Tomorrow, moving away from his hometown and leaving behind his rivalry with Superman.
The connection with "Man of Tomorrow"
This brief appearance lays the groundwork for the future alliance between Lex and Superman against a greater threat. Rumors and hints from Gunn point to Brainiac. The film promises a different approach where Luthor will not be the direct antagonist, but rather part of an unprecedented scenario in theaters.
Production and release
According to Gunn himself, the script for the Superman sequel is already finished and production could begin soon. If everything goes as planned, Man of Tomorrow will arrive in theaters in 2027.
