The midfielder from Spartak Moscow, with a past at River, was made available to Xeneize in this transfer market, while also flirting with a return to Independiente
Boca Juniors remains active in the transfer market and received a surprise with the offer of a player who has a history in Argentine football. This is Esequiel Barco, a midfielder who currently plays for Spartak Moscow and is a former player of River Plate.
The Xeneize, who has just started the cycle of Rodolfo Arruabarrena as coach, is considering the possibility of bringing in the midfielder. This came shortly after discussions for Sebastián Villa were halted.
Barco was formally offered to the club from La Ribera. Both the coaching staff and the management are evaluating the option and could move forward with negotiations in the coming hours.
The desire to return to the Rojo
The player had expressed his interest in returning to Independiente, the club where he was trained. However, negotiations with Spartak did not reach a successful conclusion due to differences in the transfer fee. The midfielder's contract with the Russian team extends until June 2027.
In this context, the Boca alternative emerged. Despite his past at River, the Xeneize does not rule out the operation and is already studying the details.
Barco left an important mark at the Millonario. Between 2022 and 2024, he played 127 matches, scoring 17 goals and providing 19 assists.
Under the direction of Martín Demichelis, the midfielder won three titles: the 2023 Liga Profesional, the 2023 Trofeo de Campeones, and the Supercopa Argentina.
