After Senegal's participation in the 2026 World Cup, the president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Abdoulaye Fall, made a statement that surprised the football community.

During a press conference, the official stated that the head doctor of the national team, Dr. Fedior, did not have the appropriate specialization to perform that role, as his professional training corresponds to the field of gynecology and obstetrics.

According to Fall, the professional was part of the medical staff of the national team for approximately ten years and also participated in the delegation that competed in the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The federation president maintained that several team members expressed doubts about the medical care received during the competition.

According to his statements, the players did not feel fully secure under the supervision of the professional and considered it necessary to have a specialist with more experience in high-performance sports medicine.

Fall emphasized that the health of the players should be a priority and acknowledged the need to strengthen the medical area for future competitions.

The controversy over the medical staff adds to a series of issues that affected the Senegalese national team during the World Cup.

Throughout the tournament, conflicts related to financial debts, logistical difficulties related to the team's food and accommodation, as well as the striking situation of coach Pape Thiaw, who led the team without a formal contract, came to light.
