Julio Iglesias became one of the most mentioned names of the week after allegations of sexual abuse against him became known. The accusations were made by two former employees of his properties located in the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic, who stated that they had been victims of assaults during the year 2021. Both cases are currently under judicial review.

Amid the commotion caused by the news, several entertainment figures spoke out on the matter. One of the most resonant voices was that of Susana Giménez, a personal friend of the artist for decades, who decided to publicly defend him in an interview with Intrusos (América TV).

"He has been my friend for 50 years. I will never speak ill of Julio. I love him, I admire him, and he is a gentleman", stated the host, visibly firm in her stance. According to her explanation, the bond that unites them goes back a long way and has always been marked by mutual respect and affection.

When the program's reporter asked her about the possibility that the allegations might be false, Susana avoided making judgments about the judicial process. "I do not get involved in that, it is not my place. But Julio is a gentleman", she replied, drawing a clear line between her personal opinion and the course of the investigation.

The diva also referred to a video that went viral again on social media, corresponding to an interview conducted years ago, in which Julio Iglesias kisses her on camera despite initial resistance. Far from interpreting the scene as uncomfortable, Giménez maintained that it was a consensual gesture and part of the television show.

"He always plays with that, he gives me kisses. I met his wife and I mentioned it to her. She replied to me: "You already know what he is like." Everyone knows what Julio is like", Susana recalled, in reference to a conversation she had with Miranda Rijnsburger, the singer's wife.

Lastly, the host clarified that she has not had recent contact with Iglesias and that she found out about the allegations at the same time they became public. "I did not speak with him. I was filming all day. I found out today", she concluded.
