Testimonials at La Derecha Fest: Milei gave us back our dignity

Paola, reseller and Uber driver, went with her children to the 'largest anti-leftist event in the world.'

"This is the first time we've seen President Milei live, and it was a very nice experience. We totally agree with him," said Paola, a resident of the Argüello neighborhood in Córdoba capital, as she left La Derecha Fest.

Paola is 42 years old, works as a reseller, and is also an Uber driver. She arrived at the Quorum Hotel in Córdoba accompanied by her teenage children, Helen and Alex, who also shared their thoughts during the conversation. "It was great. We didn't know Javier," they commented together.

In addition to Milei, they listened alertly to Agustín Laje, "Gordo Dan," Nicolás Márquez, Javier Negre, and Diego Recalde, among other prominent speakers who participated in the event.

All three purchased their tickets through Edén because they wanted to witness something historic; they wanted to be part of the cultural battle that the right is fighting to avoid returning to the past, so that Argentina can be a free and prosperous country.

Fighting the cultural battle in Córdoba

Paola, Helen, and Alex were moved by the president's arrival, by the lights and the music, by the energy radiated by the libertarian leader who governs the country. "We support everything he's proposing," Paola added. "It's unbelievable the interest he generates in children and young people. It's something I had never seen before," she emphasized.

Before leaving the Quorum hall, when the cold was starting to seep into their bones, Paola shared some thoughts regarding the government's measures she likes the most.

"First, the chainsaw. Then, that he restored our dignity, to our Army and our national symbols, which had been completely defiled by Kirchnerism. And of course, the tax cuts," she stated. "I don't want to forget about the reduction of the age of criminal responsibility and the rest of the reforms!" she concluded.

The issue of Uber in Córdoba

Paola also addressed a topic that affects her directly: the unacceptable attempt by the Córdoba Municipality to regulate transportation apps like Uber and Didi, a senseless move that restricts workers' freedom.

It is worth noting that the City Council decided to return the platform regulation project to the Public Services Committee. The measure was taken after a massive protest by self-organized drivers, who denounced excessive restrictions. The discussion had been scheduled for after the winter recess.

The project sought to establish a legal framework for transportation apps, but it included articles that caused strong opposition among workers. Among them, it included a limit on the number of drivers authorized to operate in the city. Social and political pressure forced the ruling party to reopen the debate.

The implications of regulating Uber in Córdoba

Paola argued that this is a regulation that clearly harms workers. "There are about 20,000 drivers, and with the regulation, only 4,000 would remain. They want to assign one driver for every 375 residents! 80% of the drivers would be left out, which means fares would rise and passengers would have longer wait times. Not to mention that the partner drivers who would remain are those who drive more than 20 hours, because those of us who drive less would not even be included," she pointed out.

Additionally, for security reasons, it was required that the vehicle be marked with the company's logo. "The Uber app is very safe, since the person requesting a ride knows who they're traveling with and which vehicle will pick them up because all my information and the vehicle's information are displayed. Also, both the user and the driver can activate the ride with a code, which means that to start the ride, if I don't enter the code, it doesn't activate," she explained.

"Additionally, conversations can be recorded or we can share the ride with a family member. If there is any issue, we have support, and in the app, there is a button to contact the police directly."
