The positive result was 271 billion pesos (597,454,000,000 pounds), something that hadn't happened since 2008

Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni recently announced through his social media that Aerolíneas Argentinas closed its first annual balance with profits, an achievement not recorded since 2008.

According to his statement, the company achieved a positive result of 271,000 million pesos (597,454,000 USD), a figure that reflects the company's economic recovery after years of losses and deficits under Kirchnerist administrations. "This happens when management is serious and without Kirchnerism," Adorni emphasized, highlighting the impact of the libertarian administration on the state-owned company.

At the beginning of July this year, it had already been reported that Aerolíneas Argentinas had achieved an unprecedented economic performance during the first quarter of 2025, with a positive result of $169,012 million (372,607,000 USD). The figure included operating and financial results and represented the best economic performance since the company's nationalization in 2008, according to official data.

This result is part of the public company restructuring policy promoted by Javier Milei's government, whose objective is to achieve efficiency, budgetary balance, and transparency in the use of state resources.

In this regard, Aerolíneas Argentinas had informed the Ministry of Economy that it will not require transfers from the National Treasury to operate, thus consolidating its financial independence and showing that the company can remain profitable without state subsidies.

One of the most relevant indicators is the efficiency margin of 22.78%, the highest in the last 20 years. This level of efficiency places the company at the same standard as other airlines in the region with high operational levels, showing that Milei's administration not only achieved economic stability but also competitiveness in the air market.

A change of model

The company's economic turnaround was achieved after a deep restructuring initiated by the current administration. In 2024, Aerolíneas closed with a surplus of 20.4 million dollars, a figure that multiplied in the first months of 2025 to reach 56.6 million dollars.

Among the most notable measures is the reduction of operating costs, which included a 16% cut in staff, bringing the number of employees to the lowest level in 15 years, as well as the elimination of hierarchies and the simplification of the organizational structure by removing eight directorates, 20 management positions, and 57 ancillary positions.

With these figures, Aerolíneas Argentinas, under Milei's administration, not only breaks with years of historic deficit, but also establishes itself as an example of efficient management and responsible use of public resources.
