The Argentine automotive market is preparing for a 2026 full of new developments. With more than 50 planned launches, pickups are once again taking center stage in a key segment.
In that scenario, there are three models that concentrate the greatest expectations. A survey by TN brought together very different proposals, but with a common goal: to compete against already established pickups.

BYD Shark: a hybrid pickup that promises to break the mold
BYD Shark will arrive in Argentina in 2026 as one of the major technological bets. It is a plug-in hybrid pickup, something unprecedented in the local midsize segment.
It combines a 1.5 turbo gasoline engine with two electric motors, one on each axle: this way it achieves all-wheel drive and performance figures that are not very common. It delivers 430 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. According to official data, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds.
In electric mode it can travel up to 100 kilometers. In combined use, total range is around 840 km with very low consumption.

In other markets it is offered with a double cab and three versions: Base, X-Line and X-Pro. The latter targets off-road use. The X-Pro version adds greater ground clearance, specific tires and driving modes adapted to sand, mud and snow.
4x4 drive is standard on the better-equipped versions and optional on the entry-level version.
Renault Niagara: domestic production and regional focus
The future compact Renault pickup will be manufactured at the Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba. Its launch is scheduled for 2026.

It will compete in the unibody models segment. It targets rivals such as Fiat Toro and Chevrolet Montana. It will use the RGMP platform and a 1.3 turbo engine with 156 hp and a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Later on it could add a hybrid version and even 4x4 drive.
