They requested the arrest of Fernando Espinoza, Kicillof's bishop in La Matanza.

Melody Rakauskas requested the immediate arrest of the mayor of La Matanza, previously accused of sexual abuse

In an unprecedented judicial turn in the recent politics of the province of Buenos Aires, the lawsuit representing Melody Rakauskas formally requested the immediate arrest of La Matanza's mayor, Fernando Espinoza, for the crimes of judicial disobedience, continued harassment, and sexual abuse.

The request was directed to Judge Fernando María Caicedo, head of the National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 31, and places Espinoza, one of Governor Axel Kicillof's most trusted men, at the center of a scandal that could mark a turning point in the history of Kirchnerism.

This case, unlike most criminal proceedings, has developed contrary to judicial common sense: far from being driven by the prosecution, it has been the lawsuit that has carried out the evidence measures, investigation requests, and now, the arrest request.
Prosecutor Mónica Cuñarro has been pointed out for acting almost as Espinoza's defense attorney, something that caused outrage in sectors of the Judicial Power and civil society.

Despite this, Judge Caicedo accepted the lawsuit's claims, charged Espinoza with simple sexual abuse, and referred the case to oral trial, although the court in charge of the process has not yet been appointed, a striking detail for a case that has been under public scrutiny for months.

The arrest request doesn't arise in a vacuum. It comes in the context of a completely fractured Peronism, fragmented and without clear leadership.
Internal conflicts are the order of the day, and many leaders are already acting on their own, detaching themselves from a structure that no longer protects or privileges them.

According to judicial leaks, the judge still has the case in his hands, so he is in a position to order the immediate arrest of the mayor. The decision, in the magistrate's hands, is awaited with unprecedented political pressure, both from those seeking justice and those trying to shield the communal leader.

For some within the PJ, this move is nothing more than an internal operation, a vendetta between retreating factions. But the procedural facts are clear: Espinoza has already been charged, and adds a complaint for disobeying judicial measures and engaging in harassment behaviors.

Alfredo Leuco said it bluntly: "Buenos Aires Peronism has never been so close to collapse." And he was right. The arrest of Espinoza, if it materializes, could be the final blow to the structure that supported Kirchnerism for decades.

Espinoza represents everything that Kirchnerism was, both in the province of Buenos Aires and nationally: clientelism, apparatus, territorial control, institutional opacity, and media shielding. He was untouchable for years, a true "feudal lord" of the suburbs. But now, neither his closeness to Kicillof nor his judicial contacts seem to be enough to keep him safe from more than two complaints against him.
