In a special session held this Friday, the elected senators for the 2025-2031 term were sworn in at the upper chamber, in an event that anticipates a deep reconfiguration of the national political landscape.
The ceremony began at 11 a.m. and aimed to approve diplomas and administer the oath of office to those elected in the legislative elections of October 26.
The Senate will begin its new phase on December 10, the date on which the legislators will formally assume their duties, marking an internal reorganization with a direct impact on the balance of power.

According to the October results, La Libertad Avanza, the party of President Javier Milei, made significant gains, while Kirchnerism grouped under the Fuerza Patria banner experienced a decline in its parliamentary representation.
In the legislative election, LLA obtained 40.70% of the votes, consolidating itself as the main winner of the electoral round. Kirchnerism, under the Fuerza Patria front and supported by its provincial structures, reached 31.68% of the votes.
This electoral performance had a direct impact on the composition of the Senate. Fuerza Patria, which currently has 34 senators, will have 28, after securing 9 of the 15 seats it was renewing. La Libertad Avanza, on the other hand, saw the most significant growth: it will add 13 new seats and increase its representation from 7 to 20 legislators, becoming the second largest force in the upper chamber.
The traditional parties also experienced declines. The Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) will reduce its presence from 13 to 9 seats, as it failed to gain new seats and lost four of those it previously held.

Meanwhile, PRO will decrease from 8 to 6 senators, without achieving any additions and losing two seats. Among the provincial blocs, representation will rise to 6 legislators, one more than in the previous composition, thanks to the entry of two new representatives. In contrast, Provincias Unidas will drop from 5 to 3 seats after not obtaining any of those that were up for grabs.
One of the most notable moments of the event was the swearing-in of Patricia Bullrich, who still serves as Minister of National Security and who, starting in December, will assume office as senator for La Libertad Avanza. In addition to joining the bloc, she will preside over it.
Her oath was accompanied by an ovation from the galleries, where the Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, the Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, and Manuel Adorni, Chief of Staff, stood up to applaud her.
With this renewal, the Senate is heading toward a stage in which La Libertad Avanza will play a decisive role in legislative negotiations, while the traditional forces have experienced a marked decline.
