After La Libertad Avanza's enormous victory in the legislative elections, Peronism is facing a major internal conflict
After Sunday's legislative elections, which resulted in a resounding victory for La Libertad Avanza, Peronism faces a scenario of intense internal tension.
The harsh electoral defeat caused criticism and mutual accusations among the party's different factions, especially between the leaders of Kirchnerism and the allies of Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof.
Groups close to Cristina Kirchner pointed to the Buenos Aires governor as responsible for weakening Fuerza Patria's campaign in the province, while Kicillof defended the decision to separate local elections from national ones. The controversy over the electoral split became one of the main points of internal debate.
Máximo Kirchner.
The tension intensified with the appearance of posters at the Buenos Aires Justicialist Party (PJ) headquarters questioning the leadership of Máximo Kirchner, son of Cristina Kirchner and current president of the provincial branch.
The messages, posted on the doors of the headquarters, include phrases such as: "Máximo: PJ is not your toy" and "The Justicialist Party is not your monarchy." Other posters demand an "immediate opening of the national PJ to Peronists" and criticize the concentration of power within the party, with expressions like "Enough of heirs and the blessed."
The appearance of these posters reflects the anger of internal factions over the lack of renewal in the leadership and the way political timing is managed within Peronism. The Buenos Aires branch must renew its authorities before the end of the year, but so far no elections have been called, which creates uncertainty and increases pressure on the party leadership.
Cristina Kirchner, condenada por corrupción.
Meanwhile, Kicillof continues to defend his decisions, insisting that the province's autonomy and the particularities of its electorate justify the separation of the elections.
The internal conflict within Peronism promises to be a central issue in the coming weeks, with fierce battles over the renewal of leadership, future strategy, and the relationship between the party's different factions.
