The request was submitted through a complaint appeal to the highest court

The prosecutor of the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation, Mario Villar, requested today that the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation sentence the convicted former president Cristina Kirchner to 12 years in prison for the crime of illicit association.

The petition was filed through a complaint appeal before the highest court, the same procedure that the defense of the convicted of corruption used earlier to insist on her acquittal.

In his 10-page document, Villar reaffirmed the position of the Prosecutor's Office maintained during the oral trial, in which prosecutors Diego Luciani and Sergio Mola had requested a 12-year prison sentence for illicit association and fraudulent administration.

However, by majority, the Federal Oral Court 2 sentenced her to six years in prison and perpetual disqualification from holding public office only for fraudulent administration.

The Prosecutor's Office appealed to the Chamber of Cassation, where Villar insisted on his request for 12 years. Nevertheless, the court upheld the initial ruling. Faced with this decision, the prosecutor resorted to the Supreme Court through an extraordinary appeal, which was rejected. Now, with that avenue exhausted, he presents a complaint appeal directly to the highest court.

According to Villar, the resolution of the Chamber of Cassation lacks valid grounds and merely rejects the Prosecutor's arguments without due analysis. In his presentation, he argued that the sentence presents dogmatic assertions, isolated evaluations, and omission of key evidence, making it an invalid decision with various grounds of arbitrariness.

In addition to insisting on Cristina Kirchner's conviction, Villar also appealed to the Court the acquittals of the former Kirchnerist Minister of Federal Planning, Julio De Vido, the former Undersecretary of Public Works, Abel Fatala, and the former Santa Cruz Road Administration official, Héctor Garro, requesting that they be convicted.

In his presentation, the prosecutor highlighted that in the case "serious acts of corruption committed by state officials and businessmen are being investigated, presenting a case that compromises the international responsibility of the Argentine State, with which the institutional interest is widely accredited, as well as its federal nature".

With this argument, he justified his request for the Supreme Court to intervene in the file and accept his claim. He also questioned that Cassation dismissed his first appeal to access the highest court: "With apparent treatment of the grievances raised by this party, dogmatic grounds, and a fragmented analysis of the evidence, the Federal Criminal Oral Court and the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation definitively excluded the charge of illicit association for some of the defendants and unfaithful administration for others".
