The reason for Erik Ten Hag's sudden dismissal from Leverkusen has been revealed.
The Dutchman left his position amid tensions with the management and a signing that was finalized behind his back
Just three months after his arrival, and with only three matches managed, Erik Ten Hag was dismissed as Bayer Leverkusen's head coach. Although at first it was speculated that it was merely a poor relationship with the squad and management, a specific event appears to have been the trigger: the signing ofLucas Vázquez.
According to the German sports newspaper Bild, the negotiation for the arrival of the former Real Madrid player was finalized without the coach's approval, who only learned about the signing after the player had passed his medical examination. This decision appears to have been one of the key factors in the breakdown between the board and the coach.

Coincidence or not, just six days after that move and following a 3-3 draw against Werder Bremen, Ten Hag was out of Leverkusen. "It was essential to have a certain roadmap, and we missed that," stated Simón Rolfes, the club's sporting director, in a clear reference to the disagreements with the former Manchester United coach.
What Ten Hag said after his dismissal
The Dutch coach, who had arrived with the difficult task of replacing Xabi Alonso, was surprised after his dismissal: "Bayer Leverkusen's decision was a complete surprise. Dismissing a coach after only two league matches is unprecedented."
Meanwhile, regarding his relationship with the team, he was blunt: "This summer, many key players who contributed to previous successes left the squad. Building a new and cohesive team is a careful process that requires time and trust. A new coach deserves the space to implement his vision, set the tone, shape the squad, and leave his mark on the playing style."

He also lamented the lack of support from the institution: "I started this job with full conviction and energy, but unfortunately the board was not willing to grant me the time and trust I needed, something I deeply regret. I feel that this was never a relationship based on mutual trust. Clubs that have placed their trust in me have been rewarded with success and titles."
