Rumors about an alleged engagement between Gerard Piqué and Clara Chía Martí have gained traction in recent days, after journalist Adri Toval claimed that the former Barcelona player had proposed marriage to his current partner and that even Shakira was already aware. However, these reports were quickly denied by Jordi Martin, the paparazzo who has closely followed the former footballer's life for years.
According to Martin, direct sources from Piqué's closest circle categorically denied the existence of a marriage proposal. "We can deny the news that Gerard Piqué has proposed marriage to Clara Chía. People he trusts the most confirmed it to me," he stated on his YouTube channel on September 8.
The journalist was even more emphatic when quoting a phrase that, according to him, came from Piqué himself: "They tell me that Piqué, from his own mouth, said: 'I'm never going to get married'".
This statement reinforces a stance that, apparently, the former Barcelona defender has maintained for years. In fact, during his relationship of more than a decade with Shakira —with whom he has two children— he never got engaged or even considered the idea of getting married.
