The United States will stop funding mRNA vaccines after their ineffectiveness has been proven.

Trump administration's health portfolio, led by RFK Jr., after extensive investigations, concluded that mRNA vaccines against coronavirus are ineffective

The Secretary of Health and Human Services (in English, HHS), Robert F. Kennedy Jr, announced this Tuesday that his department will rescind 22 federal mRNA vaccine development contracts that had a cost of approximately 500 million dollars.

Kennedy stated that after a thorough investigation, his team has concluded that mRNA vaccines, including the most widely used COVID-19 immunizations, have been ineffective. His department will shift toward "safer and broader vaccine platforms that remain effective even when viruses mutate."

"After reviewing the science and consulting with leading experts from the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration, HHS has determined that mRNA technology presents more risks than benefits for these respiratory viruses," the secretary said in a video posted on X.

When the first mutation occurs, the mRNA vaccine becomes ineffective.

This way, the head of the health department explained that the mRNA vaccines used during the pandemic "only encode a small part of the viral protein, usually a single antigen," adding that when a single mutation occurs, the vaccine becomes ineffective.

"This dynamic drives a phenomenon called antigenic shift, which means that the vaccine, paradoxically, encourages new mutations and can, in fact, prolong pandemics, since the virus constantly mutates to escape the vaccine's protective effects," Kennedy stated.

The official noted that millions of people contracted the omicron variant of the coronavirus despite having been vaccinated with multiple doses. According to Kennedy, the nature of mRNA vaccines is responsible for this phenomenon.

The Trump administration will continue to support safe and effective vaccines.

Kennedy stated that his ministry continues to support safe and effective vaccines for every American who wants them, and for that very reason his team is leaving behind messenger RNA-based inoculations for respiratory viruses and investing in better solutions.

The BARDA unit (Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority) is the agency under the health department that will discontinue these multimillion-dollar contracts, since "the data show that these vaccines do not effectively protect against upper respiratory infections such as COVID and influenza."

The aforementioned health unit will now focus on "platforms with stronger safety records and transparent clinical and manufacturing data practices." HHS also confirmed that vaccine technologies promoted during the pandemic period that did not meet current scientific standards will be phased out.
