A drug gang that forced neighbors to work for them has been dismantled in Córdoba.

Three individuals detained in simultaneous operations in the city of Córdoba: weapons, drugs, money, and subjugation of local residents

Three men were arrested this week following a series of simultaneous raids. These took place in the Cooperativa, Los Paraísos, and Las Magdalenas neighborhoods of the city of Córdoba. The operation was coordinated by the Directorate of Civil Brigades Coordination and is part of an investigation into serious property crimes.

The individuals are accused of "serious injuries caused by the use of firearms and threats", according to sources from the Córdoba Police. The arrests were carried out after an investigation that had been ongoing for several weeks and managed to gather key evidence.

According to the sources, the men exercised violent territorial control over the neighborhoods. In this regard, they forced residents to work for them under threats and with firearms. In some cases, they even wounded people with gunshots.

Weapons, drugs, and money: what was seized

During the procedures, officers managed to seize a 9-millimeter caliber firearm, eleven cartridges of the same caliber, a cell phone, $560,000 in cash, and a significant quantity of narcotics.

In total, 309 grams (10.9 ounces) of marijuana and 111 grams (3.9 ounces) of cocaine hydrochloride were seized. All the material found was placed under judicial custody to be incorporated as evidence in the ongoing criminal proceedings.

The three detainees were transferred to police headquarters, where they remain at the disposal of the provincial judiciary. The case is classified as "serious injuries aggravated by the use of firearms, qualified threats, and possession of narcotics for the purpose of commercialization."

Residents subjected and organized for criminal purposes

Police authorities explained that the members of this gang committed property crimes. Additionally, they established a regime of threats and intimidation among the area's residents. "They forced residents to work for them; they used fear, weapons, and drugs as tools of subjugation," stated a spokesperson for the operation.

The investigation will continue with the analysis of the seized items, especially the contents of the cell phone and the money found. The possibility of more individuals being involved is not ruled out nor that new raids may be carried out in the coming days.
