The main suspect in the mass shooting that took place on Saturday at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island,was found dead inside a storage facility with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Salem, New Hampshire,U.S. media outlets reported on Friday, including CBS News. The police announced that it would offer an official update on the case at a press conference scheduled for the coming hours.
The attackleft two people dead and nine injured,some of them seriously, and triggered a large police mobilization on the campus and in the surrounding area. The university activated emergency protocols and temporarily suspended activities while the authorities secured the area and advanced the investigation.
According to police sources cited by the press, on Thursday night the authorities managed to track in Salema vehicle allegedly linked to the suspect,which made it possible to narrow the search radius outside Rhode Island.

Subsequently, the body of the alleged striker was found lifeless inside a storage unit. So far,no details have been released about the cause of death,nor whether there was direct police involvement.
During the days following the attack, investigators released security camera footage thatshowed a masked man dressed in blackwalking through the streets of Providence approximately two hours before the shooting. The photographs were key to requesting citizen cooperation and reconstructing the suspect's movements prior to the attack.
