The Justice system ordered the release of the heroic 21-year-old on Thursday night, who had been detained after chasing, running over, and killing one of the motorcycle thieves who minutes earlier had attempted to violently assault his girlfriend.

The incident occurred last Tuesday, when the young woman was the victim of an attempted robbery in Ituzaingó, and her partner decided to follow the criminals with his car, catching up with them in the Merlo district, where he hit them. As a result, one of the thieves died and the driver was arrested on charges of "simple homicide."

The case was assigned to the Guarantees Judge No. 3 of Morón, Gustavo Robles, who decided to grant freedom to T.E.V., the young man involved in the episode. According to judicial sources, the magistrate understood that there are no procedural risks that justify keeping him detained while the investigation process continues.

In his ruling, Robles also indicated that key expert reports are still needed to accurately reconstruct what happened. Additionally, he highlighted that in his statement, the accused claimed that he had no intention of running over the suspects, but rather they cornered him with the motorcycle during the chase.

Thus, the judge dismissed the request for preventive detention made by the case's prosecutor, Guillermo Rodríguez Rey, although he clarified that the investigation will continue.

The Incident

The incident occurred on Tuesday night, after T.E.V. decided to chase the violent assailants who moments earlier had intercepted his girlfriend in the Buenos Aires locality of Ituzaingó, specifically at the corner of Aguaribay and Haiti.

According to the police report, at that location, the young woman was with her partner and a group of friends when, suddenly, they were approached by four thieves riding two motorcycles. One of the criminals got off with a weapon in hand and threatened them.

The robbery was quick. After completing it, the thieves escaped on the same motorcycles, not imagining that the victim's boyfriend, accompanied by a friend, would take his red Peugeot 207 to chase them for several blocks.

The chase focused on one of the motorcycles, on which the robbery perpetrator and his accomplice were riding. They followed them to the Merlo area, where they finally managed to catch up with them and hit the vehicle they were traveling in.

As a result of the impact, one of the criminals—identified as Marcos Daniel Ceballos, 33 years old—died at the scene and was left lying on the asphalt. His accomplice, a 17-year-old teenager, suffered a leg fracture and was taken to the Eva Perón Hospital, where he remains hospitalized.

In the context of the investigation, the police confirmed that the motorcycle used by the suspects had also been stolen hours earlier in the area of Araoz and Formosa, in the Merlo district. The report had already been filed by the vehicle's owner.

Police sources indicated that Marcos Ceballos had criminal records: in July 2021, he was arrested after attempting to steal a motorcycle while armed, an incident in which the UFIJ No. 7 of Morón intervened.

His accomplice, the injured teenager, also had a criminal record. In 2023, he had been detained for motorcycle theft and in August 2024 for an armed robbery. Currently, he remains apprehended and at the disposal of the Juvenile Penal No. 1 of Morón.
