Valve redesigns Steam pages with increased width, high-quality videos, and improved loading
Valve has announced a complete overhaul of the Steam store pages, featuring a more modern design intended for large monitors and supporting new image and video formats.
The change is already available in the beta client and promises a smoother, more visually appealing experience optimized for developers and players.

A constant evolution since 2003
Since its launch in 2003, Steam has grown to become the most used digital video game store, adding features over the years.
The platform takes another step with pages that increase from 940 pixels to 1200 pixels wide, and a main column that grows from 600 to 780 pixels.
High-quality videos and formats
Developers will be able to upload .mp4 or .webm format videos up to 12 seconds and 100 MB, which can be placed in the game descriptions as well as the header.

This replaces—or complements—the use of GIFs, although the store will continue to accept PNG, JPG, GIF, and WebP. Valve recoded more than 292,000 GIFs to reduce their size by 87%, improving loading times.
More customization for creators
The update incorporates tools to align text, images, and a new centering option. This gives studios more control over the presentation of their titles.

These features are added to a design that makes better use of screen space and improves information readability.
Update availability
The new design is already available for those using the Steam beta client. Valve has confirmed that the update will reach the rest of the users in the coming weeks.
