Milei formalizes Santilli's appointment in the Interior Ministry and revives the relationship with the governors
President Javier Milei will swear in Diego Santilli as Minister of the Interior this Tuesday, in a ceremony that will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the Salón Blanco of Casa Rosada.
This will be the formalization of the appointment that Milei had announced days earlier, after his return to the country. The main members of the Cabinet will participate in the ceremony, along with family and friends of "Colo".

Meetings before taking office
Even before taking office, Santilli has already been de facto performing the role of minister. Last Friday he received in the offices of the Ministry of the Interior the governors of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, and Catamarca, Raúl Jalil.
For this Monday he is scheduled to meet with the leaders of San Juan, Marcelo Orrego, and Córdoba, Martín Llaryora, both of whom have been very critical of Javier Milei's government. On Wednesday, already as acting minister, he will receive the Salta governor Gustavo Sáenz.

These meetings are part of the first round of contacts with the provinces, in which "El Colo" resumed negotiations for the 2026 Budget and the reforms that Milei will seek to promote in Congress.
Governor Ignacio Torres celebrated the meeting and clarified that "the concern was whether the agreement to eliminate export duties would be maintained, and we leave with the reassurance that not only is it still in force, but that soon we will be able to move forward with the decree that will be very good for Argentina."
He also added: "We had been working to eliminate them, where the province commits to lowering royalties, the workers with a competitiveness agreement and operating in a more modern way, and the operators to reinvest all the fiscal savings precisely due to the elimination of export duties, that remains in place."

Meanwhile, Santilli stated that his administration will seek to strengthen dialogue and consensus with the governors, essential pillars for building this new Argentina, bringing to the entire country the ideas of freedom led by the President.
A key change in the Cabinet
Santilli will take the place left by Lisandro Catalán, who resigned at the end of October along with then Chief of Cabinet, Guillermo Francos. Milei himself emphasized when announcing his appointment that the new minister will be the one who "will lead the conversations with the provinces and legislators to coordinate with Congress the necessary consensus for the upcoming reforms."
