Trump's administration ordered the Education offices to be emptied prior to their closure.
The Republican president's administration aims to reduce the deficient department's workforce by at least 50%
The United States Department of Education will begin implementing mass layoffs starting Tuesday night, according to three sources familiar with the plan, as part of President Donald Trump's proposals to eliminate the agency entirely.
The department is expected to reduce approximately 50% of its staff, which means the departure of around 2,200 employees out of the 4,400 that make up the agency's workforce.
These layoffs are part of a broader effort by Trump and the Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, to reduce the size of the federal government.

According to previous reports, the White House has prepared an executive order instructing the Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, to begin the process of dismantling the Department of Education.
On Tuesday, the department notified its employees that the offices would be closed overnight and on Wednesday for "unspecified security reasons."
The information was communicated through a memo sent to all employees. According to the memo, employees must take their laptops and leave the premises starting at 6 p.m. The offices will reopen on Thursday.

The head of security for the Department of Education, James Hairfield, did not detail the security reasons in his memo, and the agency did not immediately respond to requests for comments from some media outlets.
The memo also indicated that the office closure would apply both to the department's headquarters in Washington D.C. and to regional offices. Employees will have to work from home on Wednesday and take all their personal belongings when leaving work on Tuesday.
This has created an atmosphere of uncertainty within the department, as employees face the uncertainty of imminent cuts and the restructuring of the agency, which will make the role of education much more efficient in the country.
This radical approach by Trump to reduce the size of the federal government and eliminate key agencies like the Department of Education has garnered strong support both within the government and among the population, who believe that this transformation process will bring a cleanup to the national accounts.
