The President of the United States, Donald Trump, reported acts of sabotage against him during his visit to the 80th edition of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The president pointed to "three sinister incidents" that are being investigated by the Secret Service.
"First, the escalator leading to the main speech hall suddenly stopped. It came to a sudden halt. It's unbelievable that Melania and I didn't fall onto the sharp edges of these steel steps. Only because we both held tightly to the handrail, a catastrophe was avoided," Trump posted on Truth Social.
The Republican leader described the episode as sabotage and pointed at the international organization's workers. "It was undoubtedly sabotage, just as an article from the previous day in The London Times indicated, which stated that UN workers "were joking about turning off an escalator"."
