Trump denounces an attempted extortion by Senate Democrats
The Democratic extortion attempt was based on continuing to block the confirmation of Trump administration officials unless the White House agreed to increase public spending
This weekend, President Donald Trump completely rejected the possibility of an agreement between Republicans and Democrats before the scheduled August recess begins in the United States Senate.
Trump said that the Democratic leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer, demanded more than one billion dollars in exchange for his bloc not obstructing the confirmation process of a small number of his nominees to fill positions in the public administration.
For this reason, the Republican leader gave the green light for the Senate to begin its August recess, as planned, stating that his party will not give in to the extortion maneuvers of the left.

Trump doesn't negotiate with a Democratic Party without scruples.
"This demand is outrageous and unprecedented, and it would be a disgrace for the Republican Party if it were accepted. It is political extortion by any other name. Tell Schumer, who is under tremendous political pressure within his own party, the Radical Left Lunatics, to GO TO HELL!" the president exclaimed forcefully on Truth Social.
Initially, the White House had been pressuring the Republican leader in the Senate, John Thune, to stay in the U.S. capital and continue confirming Trump's nominees, since Democrats were doing everything possible to delay the confirmation process of these nominees.
However, upon learning of the opposition's dirty game, the president ordered his senators not to accept the offer, to return home, and to explain to their constituents what bad people the Democrats are.

Schumer wanted to negotiate subsidies for health and foreign aid.
Schumer's tactic was based on his bloc unblocking the confirmation of Trump officials only if the White House agreed to unfreeze more than one billion dollars in funds for the National Institutes of Health and foreign aid, as well as a commitment not to introduce further packages of cuts to funds already allocated by Congress.
Despite this attempt at extortion, the Republican caucus managed before the recess to bring to a vote a motion to keep Jeanine Pirro as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, in addition to approving some appropriations bills for fiscal year 2026.
"Very proud of our great Republican senators for fighting over the weekend and beyond, if necessary, to get my great appointments approved and to help us MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!" Trump said in another post.
