Since he returned to the White House, President Donald Trump's administration has launched an aggressive federal deregulation program focused on repealing provisions from previous administrations.
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is responsible for carrying out this campaign to adjust the American state. This department estimates that companies could save up to 5 trillion dollars during the next fiscal year, with other cuts totaling savings of 500 billion dollars in compliance costs.
There are around 200 measures to reduce state spending that the Trump administration has taken so far, including the elimination of the "Endangerment Finding," a 2009 regulation signed by former President Obama that has been described as "the crown jewel" of environmental policies.

Obama's unusual regulations.
With the so-called endangerment finding, Obama paved the way for seven new federal regulations that raised energy prices to take effect. The Democratic administration considered that greenhouse gas emissions from cars and trucks were harmful to public health, which justified their state control.
Another regulation enacted by Obama—which has already been repealed—required all government agencies to purchase paper straws. The ax also fell on the Departments of Education and Housing and Urban Development, which at one time were government agencies with the largest increase in public spending.
"Of the 109 executive actions we've achieved, most of them are deregulatory in nature," a senior OMB official told the New York Post. "Look at some of the buildings that were built in the past, it's because they didn't have to go through all these regulations... we have to get back to that in the United States."

For every new regulation issued, 10 must be repealed.
The person who controls government spending in the United States is Russ Vought, who is at the head of the OMB. During a cabinet meeting held last week in the Oval Office, the powerful minister detailed the fiscal policy prevailing in the Trump administration.
"In your first term, you gave us the goal of two deregulatory actions for every new regulation. We ended up with about five and a half, six to one. Now that you're running for a second term, you asked for ten to one," Vought reminded Trump.
Vought described the deregulation campaign undertaken as "the most ambitious and aggressive in United States history," adding that his office, in just 8 months of government, already has 245 deregulation initiatives planned for state agencies, which amounts to 30 liberalizing measures for every new regulation.
