The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated this Wednesday that the Iranian regime is going through one of its weakest moments following the recent military escalation and warned that Tehran will have to face the consequences of its actions against U.S. interests.

Through his account on Truth Social, the Republican leader used strong terms to describe the situation of the Iranian armed forces.

"Iran only talks and does not act. The bully of the Middle East is DEAD!", Trump wrote.

Additionally, he asserted that a large part of the military capability of the Islamic Republic has been destroyed.

"The Iranian army is a complete disaster. Much of its Navy and Air Force no longer even exist", he claimed.

The downing of the Apache that triggered the crisis

The new escalation began after Iranian forces shot down a U.S. Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz.

The two crew members managed to survive and were rescued near the coast of Oman.

The response from Washington was swift. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed attacks against:

  • Iranian air defense systems.

  • Ground control stations.

  • Radar installations.

  • Military infrastructure linked to operations in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump asserted that Iran wasted the opportunity to reach a favorable understanding.

"They took too long to negotiate an agreement that would have greatly benefited them. Now they will have to pay the consequences", he warned.

Iran launched missiles against Washington's allies

In retaliation, the Revolutionary Guards fired long-range missiles at U.S. positions and those of its allies in the region.

The Iranian forces claimed to have attacked targets in:

  • Jordan.

  • Bahrain.

  • Kuwait.

  • However, the air defenses of these countries managed to intercept most of the projectiles.

The Jordanian army reported having shot down five missiles without any casualties or material damage, while Kuwait announced that it neutralized several hostile targets.

    Diplomatic optimism is behind

Trump's statements contrasted with the tone he had adopted just hours earlier when he stated that negotiations with Iran were entering their decisive stage.

The president had indicated that an agreement could be finalized in "two or three days."

However, the resumption of attacks once again raised doubts about any immediate diplomatic solution.

From Tehran, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, Esmail Baqai, accused Washington of sabotaging the dialogue.

"The United States is damaging this diplomatic process with contradictory messages and repeated violations of the ceasefire", he stated.

The economic impact of the conflict

The tension is also continuing to affect global energy markets.

The CEO of Shell, Wael Sawan, described the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz as one of the most severe energy disruptions in recent history.

    According to his estimates:

    • More than 10% of global oil production remains off the market.

    • About 20% of global liquefied natural gas trade continues to be paralyzed.

    • The return to normalcy could take more than a year.

Meanwhile, Trump made it clear that the patience of the United States has run out.

For the White House, Iran had multiple opportunities to de-escalate the conflict and avoid direct confrontation. Now, according to the U.S. president, any new aggression will come at a much higher cost for the Tehran regime.
