The president of the United States, Donald Trump, praised Argentine president Javier Milei during a conversation with a journalist, where he addressed the possibility of increasing Argentine beef imports as part of a strategy to reduce domestic prices in his country.
Trump's statements came after a journalist asked him whether the potential agreement would harm American producers. The Republican leader's response was forceful and full of praise for Milei, although he also referred to the severe economic crisis that Argentina inherited from Kirchnerism.

“Argentina is fighting for its life, miss. You don't know anything about it. They're fighting for their life. Nothing is benefiting Argentina. They're fighting for their life. Do you understand what that means? They have no money, they're fighting with all their strength to survive”, Trump stated.
The American president added that “If I can help them survive in a free world... I like the president of Argentina. I think he's doing everything he can”.
His words represent direct support for Milei's administration and criticism of the economic disaster inherited from the last government of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner.

In that regard, the American president emphasized that his country is willing to help Argentines recover through more open trade and mutual benefits. “We would buy beef from Argentina. If we do, we will lower beef prices”, he told journalists, in what would be a preview of the trade agreement between both nations.
The mention of the trade agreement caused expectations in the Argentine agro-export sector, which sees the United States as a strategic market. If implemented, the measure would mean strong political and economic support from the Trump administration for the economic direction taken by Milei, in a context of recovery and the search for foreign investment to reactivate the Argentine economy.
