In a decision that shook the political scene in Córdoba, the internal faction of the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) led by national deputy Rodrigo de Loredo decided to withdraw its list of pre-candidates for the internal elections scheduled for this Sunday.
Thus, the "Más Radicalismo" ballot, headed by Ramón Mestre, remained as the only authorized radical option ahead of the October legislative elections.
The "Generación X" faction, aligned with De Loredo, publicly denounced a campaign of "extortion" by internal opponents and warned about an alleged "infiltration of Peronism" in the party's electoral process, which, according to them, compromised the transparency of the process.

"It's a decision to withdraw our list in the face of an atrocious and, frankly, striking intervention by Peronism and the Judiciary. The judicial intervention of the Board has just been issued, when there wasn't a single reason. The Board at all times issued resolutions in accordance with legality," stated legislator Alejandra Ferrero, legal representative of Generación X.
"It even formalized the Más Radicalismo list, which means there wasn't any reason for judicial intervention, but it's clear they're playing a game where they want to hinder, obstruct a process, disregard party bodies, and in the face of this mess, frankly, we're stepping aside," she added in statements collected by the newspaper La Voz del Interior.
