Just over a month before the arrival of summer, the heat shows no mercy in Córdoba.
This Wednesday, all the localities surveyed by the Agronomic Information Department of the province's Grain Exchange recorded temperatures above 32 °C.
Among the highest readings is Los Cerrillos, in the west of the province, where the thermometer reached 38.1 °C.
In Toledo, just a few kilometers from the capital, the temperature reached 38.1 °C.
In Eufrasio Loza, in the north of Córdoba's territory, 37.2 °C was recorded.
Meanwhile, in Córdoba Capital, the thermometer showed 36.2 °C.
Córdoba authorities warn of heat waves during the summer
In February of this year, Córdoba recorded 42 °C, the highest temperature, and during the 2022–2023 summer, it experienced 21 days under heat wave conditions, the longest duration in the historical series.
These trends are combined with nights that do not drop below 19.5 °C, which prevents thermal recovery and increases health risks.
The official assessment states that urban temperatures are systematically increasing, with longer summers and more persistent tropical nights.
In the last decade, the city has tripled the frequency of heat waves and has experienced increasingly severe episodes.
"We are facing the need to address heat waves. It is a serious problem for the population's health, with potentially lethal consequences," said the Secretary of Environment and Circular Economy of Córdoba Municipality, Gabriel Martín.
