After a year full of football ups and downs, in which it finished 13th in the annual table of Primera B Metropolitana, San Martín de Burzaco surprised with a statement as firm as it was unusual. The management announced that there would be an almost complete renewal of the squad, citing a "notable lack of attitude" at the end of the tournament.
"Club Social y Deportivo San Martín de Burzaco informs its members, fans, supporters, and the general public that the First Division squad will be almost entirely renewed for the upcoming season," the institution stated.
The board justified the measure with a severe criticism of the team's performance in the last match of the Clausura: "This decision was made due to the notable lack of attitude shown by some players in the last match of the Torneo Clausura, a situation that prevented achieving the objectives set at the beginning of the year and that overshadowed the efforts made by the management and the coaching staff."
The blow that ignited the management's indignation was the 3-1 defeat against Deportivo Merlo at Estadio Francisco Boga, a match that Sanma started by winning with a goal from Ariel Siliman and that could have meant qualification for the Reducido for promotion to Primera Nacional.
