Aarón Anselmino's European career took an unexpected new turn. A few months after he was loaned to Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea decided to interrupt the Argentine defender's loan at 20 years old, recall him and send him out on loan again, this time to Racing Strasbourg.
The center-back, who came through Boca, had arrived in Europe in January 2025 and, after a period without continuity in England, was sent to the Bundesliga to gain playing time. At Dortmund he had an irregular spell due to some muscle injuries, although every time he had to play he performed well and managed to establish himself. Chelsea even evaluated renewing the loan, this time with a purchase option.
However, Chelsea's decision altered the plans. The London club brought him back with the initial idea of having him available for the final stretch of the season, nevertheless the outlook changed quickly. Liam Rosenior, the current coach of the English team, decided not to consider him and to prioritize the return of Mamadou Sarr, a defender who is currently on loan at Strasbourg and whom the manager knows from his previous spell at the French club.
