The US Olympic Committee banned 'transgender women' from competing against women

The decision was based on the executive order signed by United States President Donald Trump

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) recently modified its eligibility policy for athletes, aligning with the executive order signed by President Donald Trump that prohibits the participation of men who dress as women in women's sports competitions.

The measure, released on Monday, July 21, through the official USOPC website, represents a significant change that affects all national sports federations in the country.

The new regulation, titled "Athlete Safety Policy," consists of 27 pages and avoids directly referring to the term "transgender," although it clearly states that the exclusion applies to men who believe they are women.

The document states: "The USOPC will continue collaborating with various stakeholders with oversight responsibilities, for example, the IOC, the IPC, and national governing bodies, to ensure that women have a fair and safe competition environment in accordance with Executive Order 14201 and the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act."

Executive Order 14201, known as the "No Men in Women's Sports Executive Order," was signed by Trump on February 5.

With this new policy, a uniform criterion is imposed throughout the United States Olympic system, replacing the individual standards that each federation could define until now. Several sports organizations confirmed that, starting Monday, they must adapt their regulations to the guidelines established by the USOPC.

Through a statement addressed to the press, the committee stated that "as an organization recognized by the federal government, we have an obligation to comply with federal expectations." It also indicated that it held "a series of respectful and constructive conversations with federal officials" since the order was issued.

The USOPC also expressed its commitment to collaborate "with the International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, and the national governing bodies of each sport to ensure that women have a fair and safe competition environment in accordance with Executive Order 14201 and the Ted Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act."
