The recent landing of a plane from the United States Department of War in the city of Ushuaia has caused controversy in recent days, amid false reports that raised doubts about the purpose of the flight.
However, official sources consulted by La Derecha Diario indicated that the operation was carried out through formal channels and was not linked to any military deployment.
According to what was specified, this was not a military operation or a deployment of forces, but rather a transport flight intended for a delegation of United States members of Congress who are on an official mission in Argentina.

In accordance with the information provided, the flight had all the corresponding authorizations, including the overflight permit granted by COCAES, after the United States Embassy submitted the relevant documentation to the Argentine Foreign Ministry. The flight plan was in order and in line with current regulations.
Officials from the Ministry of Defense indicated that there was no anomaly whatsoever, since the aircraft complied with the standard procedures for entering national territory on January 24, entering the country via Aeroparque before continuing its itinerary southward.
In relation to the operation in Tierra del Fuego, it was indicated that the logistics were strictly civilian. The delegation did not use facilities of the Argentine Navy's Naval Base or the military apron at Ushuaia airport, but instead operated under the modality corresponding to a VIP government transport flight.

The visit of the United States members of Congress
The presence of the plane is part of an institutional visit by a delegation of United States members of Congress, who are carrying out official activities in Argentina. During their stay, the legislators are holding meetings with officials from the National Government and with members of the National Congress, with the objective of exchanging views on issues of common interest and strengthening bilateral dialogue.
As part of the planned program, the delegation included in its agenda a visit to the south of the country, where meetings and tours related to the previously established priorities were held. These activities are part of the institutional framework defined for the mission.
The delegation is made up of bipartisan members of the United States House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce. Among the issues included on the agenda are the approach to the degradation of natural environments, the processing of permits related to the management of mines and waste, the processing of critical minerals, as well as matters related to public health research and medical security.
This way, the visit falls within the framework of institutional ties between Argentina and the United States, and seeks to contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations, especially with regard to exchanges between the legislative branches of both countries.
