Video: this is how a drunk driver crashed into a bus stop in Flores
He was driving with almost three times the legal alcohol limit and was on the verge of causing a tragedy
An out-of-control car crashed into the protective bollards of the Metrobús in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Flores. The driver, who had 1.48 grams of alcohol in his blood, was accompanied by a woman who was injured, although she is out of danger. The sequence was recorded by security cameras.
The incident occurred in the rainy early hours of Monday, at the intersection of Rivadavia and Pedernera avenues.A Chevrolet Prisma, driven by a 39-year-old man, crashed through the bollards that protect the pedestrian area of the Metrobús, just a few meters from where passengers wait for buses.

After a call to 911, officers from Neighborhood Police Station 7 C arrived immediately and confirmed the damage. There they found the driver along with his companion, a 32-year-old woman, who had to be treated by SAME personnel for a minor injury.

The breathalyzer test and the penalties
By order of prosecutor Diego Basavilbaso, from the Western Flagrancy Unit, the accused was given a breathalyzer test. The result was 1.48 grams of alcohol per liter of blood, almost three times the legal limit for private drivers.
Given this evidence, the prosecutor's office filed a misdemeanor charge, impounded the vehicle, and revoked his driver's license. The case remains under investigation to determine whether there were other offenses resulting from the recklessness.
The impact could have had fatal consequences: the bollards stopped the vehicle and the bus stop was empty at that moment, which prevented a greater tragedy.
