The femicide of Valeria Márquez, the 23-year-old influencer murdered on May 13 in her beauty salon in Zapopan, Jalisco, continues to generate shock and unanswered questions.
The young woman, known for her presence on social media and her business Blossom The Beauty Lounge, was shot while doing a live broadcast on TikTok. The brutal event was recorded on video and led to a wave of speculation.
Amid the collective grief, a figure close to Valeria became the center of suspicion: Vivian de la Torre, her friend and frequent collaborator on social media. Although the Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office has so far ruled out formal charges and clarified that the investigation remains open under the femicide protocol with a gender perspective, social media users have already constructed their own hypotheses.
One of the key pieces of these suspicions is a video that went viral shortly after the crime. In it, Valeria and Vivian are seen posing together, while the phrase reads: “How beautiful we are, it doesn't even seem like a few months ago we were fighting to the death.” For many, that phrase—although perhaps said in an ironic tone—could reveal a story of prior tension between them.
