A slight thermal recovery is expected for Friday. The SMN anticipates a minimum of 12 °C and a maximum of 17 °C, with partially cloudy skies and no rain.
Saturday and Sunday will show the most pleasant afternoons of the week, with highs close to 18 °C and more sunshine, although mornings will remain cool.
The phenomenon is related to the combination of high humidity, little wind, and low temperatures during the early morning. These conditions favor the formation of fog banks and persistent fog, typical of autumn.
The National Meteorological Service recommends taking extra precautions while driving, especially on highways, access roads, and routes near the AMBA, where visibility can be significantly reduced during various stretches of the day.
According to the extended forecast from the SMN, no intense polar air masses are expected in the coming days. The scenario will remain cool and humid, but with somewhat more moderate temperatures towards the end of the week.
Furthermore, for now, no significant rain is forecast for the City of Buenos Aires and its surroundings.
The Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) woke up this Wednesday, May 27 under a scenario marked by fog, humidity, and low temperatures. The National Meteorological Service (SMN) maintains a violet alert due to persistent fog banks affecting visibility in the City and the Buenos Aires suburbs.
According to the updated forecast from the SMN, the cold will remain throughout much of the week, although no rain is expected. Highs will remain moderate, and only towards the weekend is a slight thermal improvement anticipated.
The day began with fog and low cloud cover in various sectors of the AMBA, especially during the early hours of the morning. The minimum temperature started around 9 °C, while the expected maximum will barely reach 16 °C.
The wind will blow from the southeast and east, reinforcing the humid and cool atmosphere that has dominated since the beginning of the week. Additionally, the SMN does not foresee precipitation for this Wednesday.
During the afternoon, there may be some moments of improvement with partially cloudy skies, although cloud cover will continue to predominate for much of the day.
On Thursday, stable weather will continue, with temperatures ranging between 11 °C and 17 °C. Fog will still be present during the early morning and the first hours of the day, although with less intensity.
