The interest rate hike boosted the returns of virtual wallets and money market funds

The performance of virtual wallets and mutual funds has improved again in recent days, driven by the increase in money market rates. Like fixed-term deposits, these instruments currently offer more attractive returns for those seeking profitability in pesos.
According to a survey by TN, money market fund rates have risen in line with the increase in market guarantees, generating better results for savers. However, unlike traditional deposits, these returns are variable and depend on current market conditions.

Virtual wallets are consolidating as an investment option
Financial applications have become an increasingly used alternative by small savers seeking immediate returns on their available funds. In general, these platforms are not banks, but rather channel funds into money market mutual funds, which invest in liquid assets.
Although returns are usually below those of fixed-term deposits, current rates have improved significantly. Analysts consulted estimate that this return could adjust after the elections on October 26.
How each virtual wallet performs
Lemon: offers Banco Galicia's FIMA fund, with a rate close to 72% annually. The app explained that the increase is due to the rise in guarantee rates and that the return may vary depending on their evolution.
Cocos: recorded a daily rate of 75%. Sofía Bishop, from FCI Cocos, told TN that they maintain high liquidity and short-term strategies to take advantage of higher rates and protect capital.
Ualá: shows an estimated annual return of 40.32% for its money market fund. As it owns a bank, it offers a savings account in pesos with a daily return of 40% nominal annual rate, which may improve depending on spending.
Mercado Pago: presents an average monthly return of 33.7%, although the value depends on how each entity communicates the estimated rate to its users.

What to expect in the coming months
The financial outlook remains marked by electoral expectations. In this context, virtual wallets maintain their appeal due to the immediate liquidity and flexibility they offer compared to traditional banking instruments.
