The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about PresidentJavier Milei, whom he described as "a very atypical leader" and emphasized that "what he's doing in economic matters is very reasonable."
In a conversation with Radio Mitre, Grossi was asked whether he had discussed the Argentine president with Putin. "I'll share a little secret with your audience... President Putin made a very interesting comment to me because he said that, in truth, Argentina... He made a very laudatory comment about Argentina," he recounted.

Grossi added that during that exchange they also spoke "about tango and Argentine culture," and that in that context Putin remarked: "You have a very atypical leader, but what he's doing in economic matters is very reasonable."
The diplomat clarified that it was a private conversation and not a public statement: "He's also an observer of the world. This was a private conversation, it's not a public statement, but it's an observation."
Grossi also emphasized that "Russia is the country that exports the most nuclear power plants, so it's necessary to ensure that the activity is carried out safely," in relation to the war with Ukraine.

When referring to his role in the international organization, he stressed: "The challenge, when you have an international function, is the ability to communicate, and to keep talking with them. We all have a heart and we know where good and evil are. I have to have that discipline to try to achieve the best."
When asked about his aspiration to become Secretary-General of the UN, Grossi replied cautiously: "Let's take it step by step." When asked about possible support from U.S. President Donald Trump, he concluded: "Let's hope so."
