What did King Charles III say to Prince Harry before their definitive estrangement?
The monarch and his son were last seen on the day he received his medical diagnosis. Everything about their last conversation
Two years after officially assuming the throne as king of the United Kingdom, Charles III continues to face challenges beyond the throne. One of the most sensitive and media-focused is his deteriorated relationship with his youngest son, Prince Harry, whose family rift seems increasingly far from reconciliation.
Although the friction between them has been accumulating for years, a recent revelation published by The Mirror once again highlighted the definitive estrangement between father and son. According to writer Lady Colin Campbell, the last meeting between Charles III and Harry lasted just 12 minutes. That brief meeting occurred a year ago, just when the monarch made his cancer diagnosis public.

What was most surprising about this episode was not only the coldness of the meeting but also the context. Harry reportedly traveled on his own, without an official invitation, and merely informed the king's office that he would be arriving in London to see him. "The meeting lasted exactly 12 minutes. Not 30 or 45. It was Harry who took the initiative," Campbell detailed.
This meeting, marked by tension and emotional distance, was the last in-person conversation between them. The causes of the conflict are not new: since Harry and Meghan Markle resigned from their roles as active members of the royal family in 2020, the differences have deepened. The publication of the book "Spare," where Harry recounts painful family experiences and internal accusations, further aggravated the relationship.

Additionally, Prince William, Harry's older brother, did not participate in the meeting nor showed any interest in seeing his brother, further underscoring the rift among key members of the British royalty.
The tension, however, has not completely silenced hopes for reconciliation. In a recent interview with the BBC, the Duke of Sussex expressed his desire to mend family ties:
"I would love to reconcile with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight. I don't know how much longer my father has. He doesn't speak to me about the security issue, but it would be nice if we reconciled," he stated, referring to the legal battle he undertook to regain his official protection in the United Kingdom.
