In Irapuato a local collective has proposed the creation of a Gerontological Center exclusively for older LGBT+ people, alleging supposed conditions of "high vulnerability" within this group.
The initiative, supported by the association Desarrollo Humano y Sexualidad (Dehusex), seeks the backing of local authorities to open a public space that serves this minority.
Its promoters claim that the project will promote the physical, mental, and social health of older homosexual adults, but the proposal has raised alarms. Members of the community denounce the advance of the gender ideology as a more political agenda of the left to justify the expansion of the state apparatus.

A model that rewards risky lifestyles
Far from being an oppressed population as their defenders claim, LGBT+ collectives enjoy high representation in media, international organizations, and public policies.
However, various medical studies have documented that this group presents high rates of sexually transmitted diseases, particularly HIV. According to data from UNAIDS and the CDC of the U.S., men who have sex with men continue to be the group with the highest prevalence of HIV infection in the world.

The creation of centers that promote this lifestyle doesn't solve the root of the problem, but rather reinforces practices that are not healthy. A different approach is required, focused on emotional containment, disease prevention, and the strengthening of family values.
The real abandonment: that of the majorities
While resources and attention are allocated to ideological projects like this, thousands of older adults in Guanajuato, without sexual orientation labels, face real shortages. The abandoned elderly face issues in health, housing, and social security.
It is not about discrimination, but prioritization: the government must attend to those who need it most without yielding to ideological trends that fragment society into artificial identity groups.
