Each share will be split into ten, reducing its unit price without altering the company's value. The measure aims to increase liquidity, encourage participation from small investors, and enhance the attractiveness of the stock in the market
In the context of the profound economic transformation that Argentina is undergoing, the company YPF will execute a stock split this Tuesday, August 4, known in the financial realm as a split, at a ratio of 10 to 1. This measure, which aligns with the market vision promoted by the administration of Javier Milei, aims to break down entry barriers for small savers, allowing local private capital to be the true engine of energy sovereignty.
According to official information, for every share an investor currently holds in their portfolio, they will automatically have 10 units.
SPLIT 10:1 from YPF
While the total value of the investment remains the same in the custody account, the unit price of each share is reduced to one-tenth, which exponentially increases accessibility and liquidity in the capital market. This process, which does not require additional procedures from the user, will be recorded in the records of Caja de Valores S.A..
From a technical perspective and institutional transparency, the operation involves the following fundamental details:
The number of ordinary shares will increase from 393,312,793 to a total of 3,933,127,930.
The nominal value of each share will decrease from $10 to $1.
Despite the increase in the volume of shares, the share capital will remain unchanged at 3,933,127,930 pesos.
Each new unit will retain its right to one vote, ensuring that the shareholder's power is not diluted.
For investors abroad, the ratio of ADRs (American Depositary Receipts) will change from one to 10 Class D shares, adjusting without additional costs.
The head of Market Relations at YPF, Margarita Chun, stated in the note sent to the National Securities Commission (CNV) and Argentine Stock Exchanges and Markets S.A. (ByMA) that this decision aims to “apply market practices of comparable companies in the country and abroad”.
Javier Milei and Horacio Marín
Among the reasons for the measure, the “improvement of stock market liquidity” and “greater accessibility for retail investors” stand out, an objective that aligns with the deregulation and economic opening of the government.
To further facilitate "people" joining this investment wave, the company led by Horacio Marín announced that it is advancing a new feature to allow shares to be purchased directly through the YPF APP.
This technological innovation aims to eliminate bureaucratic intermediaries and encourage the average Argentine to invest in the value of their national companies in a free and transparent market environment.
This strategic move by YPF not only seeks to add small investors to its shareholder base but also positions the company on the path to global efficiency, leaving behind the closed structures of the past to embrace a model where popular capitalism and private investment are the pillars of new Argentine progress.
