Branko Marinkovic confronted Samuel Doria Medina over his recent statements
Doria Medina recently indicated that placing a candidate from Santa Cruz as Vice President harmed him in the past
Branko Marinkovic and Samuel Doria Medina were involved in a confrontation, the businessman from Santa Cruz harshly questioned the statements of the opposition pre-candidate. The debate arose after Doria Medina claimed that choosing a candidate from Santa Cruz as vice president cost him electoral support in La Paz and El Alto. Marinkovic was quick to respond with severe criticism.
Doria Medina's words were expressed at an event in Santa Cruz and he recalled his experience in the 2009 elections. He stated that his running mate from Santa Cruz influenced the loss of support in the west. This caused a wave of reactions on social media.
Branko Marinkovic was quick to comment on the matter and through the social network X, he launched a harsh criticism against Doria Medina. “Blaming the people of Santa Cruz for your political failure only confirms your lack of vision and leadership,” he wrote. His post was shared by several followers.
The businessman from Santa Cruz deepened his stance with other statements. He questioned Doria Medina's political vision and argued that he has never understood the needs of Santa Cruz or the rest of the country. Additionally, he attributed his poor electoral performance to a lack of leadership and strategy.

Doria Medina tried to tone down his statements in recent hours and indicated that he was not seeking to blame a particular region. The pre-candidate of the false opposition justified himself by stating that his intention was to highlight the importance of choosing a good running mate. However, the controversy was already established.
Did Doria Medina only show what he really thinks of the people of Santa Cruz?
Marinkovic insisted that apologizing would be useless and assured that Doria Medina's statements reveal his true thoughts. “This is what you really think and feel,” he stated. The exchange of statements occurred days after Marinkovic withdrew his candidacy.
This episode adds to Marinkovic's recent decision to withdraw from the electoral race. A few days ago, he announced his support for Jorge Tuto Quiroga and asked other opposition candidates to do the same. He argued that a single candidacy is the best way to defeat MAS.
Meanwhile, Samuel Doria Medina has been consolidating alliances. Recently, he received the support of the Revolutionary Nationalist Movement (MNR). Jhonny Torres, the party leader, highlighted Doria Medina's political experience and both leaders assured that they will work together to strengthen the false opposition.
Despite this support, Doria Medina's statements caused divisions. Some political sectors criticized his stance, considering that blaming a candidate from Santa Cruz for his electoral loss was a strategic mistake. Others defended him, arguing that he was merely recounting a political experience.

The electoral landscape remains uncertain. The false opposition has yet to consolidate into a single block. Meanwhile, the ruling party faces internal divisions between President Luis Arce and Evo Morales.
Amid this situation, Marinkovic reaffirmed his stance on opposition unity. He reiterated his call to Samuel Doria Medina and other leaders to support Quiroga. He believes it is the best strategy to face MAS in the August elections.
Doria Medina has not yet replied directly to this request. It is expected that in the coming days he will define his position. For now, he remains focused on forming his electoral ticket and his decision will also be important for the direction of the false opposition block.
The exchange of statements between Marinkovic and Doria Medina reflects the tensions within the opposition. The lack of consensus could weaken their presidential aspirations. Meanwhile, MAS continues to observe the movements of its adversaries.
Doria Medina has indicated that with his statements he sought to highlight the importance of selecting the right Vice Presidential candidate for the electoral contest, but in reality, he has caused rejection and discomfort. His actions show little maturity and common sense in this old politician who aims not to fail again in the August election.
